HYDERABAD March 9, 2003: The prestigious Nihilent-CSI e-Governance
Awards for 2002, were given by the Union Minister of State for Information
Technology, Mrs. Sumitra Mahajan in the presence of Shri. N. Chandrababu
Naidu, Chief Minister, Andhra Pradesh. Public Works Department, Maharashtra's
Web Site http://www.mahapwd.com was awarded the 'Best Web Site'
in the e-Governance category. Shri A. J. Jagtap, Chief Engineer, P.
W. Region, Pune received the award.
A detailed presentation on the web
site was made by Shri A.J.Jagtap to the panel of judges, headed
by the legendary Mr F. C. Kohli and comprising Dr. D. B. Phatak
of IIT, Mumbai, Prof Ramarao of IIM, Ahmedabad and Dr. E.A.S. Sharma,
Principal, Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), voted in
five awardees in four different categories:
1) Best Citizen-centric Project
2) Best Revenue System
3) Best Web Site
4) Best office efficiency Project
The entries were evaluated based on
nine parameters: Reduced paperwork, Provide 24 x 7 delivery or approach
towardsit, make service delivery more attractive, reduce overall
service costs to citizens, build a model for self sustenance, touch
screen kiosks and / or IVR, online transactions implemented, Indian
language interface and use of GIS / WAN technology.
